Custom Processing

Wool We Process

We can process a large range of wool and blending fiber. Our carders were built for superfine fleeces so we can process anything from course to superfine wool. We prefer processing fiber that is 2" - 9" in staple length but have the ability to run shorter, such as Qivuit. We can process sheep wool, alpaca, angora, mohair, yak, qivuit, and more.

Our minimum for invoicing purposes is three pounds. We are happy to process smaller lots but you will be invoiced for three pounds. Please contact us about your project if it falls outside these parameters.

We offer skirting, scouring, picking, carding, drawing, and dyeing services. Please see below for pricing. Not sure what your wool needs? That's what we're here for. Reach out to us via the contact us page and we'll happily answer all your questions and help you decide the best options for your fiber.

Not sure what you need? Have questions filling out the form? Check out our Custom Processing 101 page, a brand new guide on having your fiber custom processed.

Promoting Conservation

Wool for the People is committed to breed conservation efforts. Shepherds, mills, and consumers are all pieces of the breed protection puzzle and we're here to do our part. Shave 'em to Save 'em is a program by the Livestock Conservancy that recognizes fiber artists who use wool from breeds on the Conservation Priority List while connecting shepherds of heritage breeds with customers.

As a mill we offer priority processing to official Shave 'em to Save 'em rare breed producers. Please mark on your processing form under "Breed" that you are an SE2SE producer and the wool you want processed is part of the passport program. Once we have confirmed and your wool has arrived, it will be put into our priority processing line. The benefit of having two cards, one for custom customer processing and the other for our own production is we can offer this service without interrupting our established customer queue. We are not affiliated with the Livestock Conservatory.
