Wool & Tea Party: Breed & Tea Tasting for Handspinners ~ July 18th

Join us for a wool and tea party, a breed and tea tasting for handspinners on July 18th.

This event features The Best of the West sheep breeds: Columbia; a breed developed in Idaho, Polypay; a US based breed that's foundational stock came from California, Oregon and Montana, as well as a third breed currently being sourced from local breeders.

The Columbia we will be sampling comes from Black Creek Columbias in Wolf Creek, Montana. The Polypay was grown and shorn in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Now the tea party. We are so thrilled be joined by Sierra Serenity, a tea company run by sisters out of Kitsap, Washington. They will be pairing each breed with a unique tea blend, including but not limited to a blend developed for us based on Portland's nickname "The City of Roses". Teas will be served iced and hot (our classroom has air conditioning) and each participant will receive a handmade tea cup. Each ticket includes three one ounce samples of wool roving.

This tasting will be held from 12pm until 2pm noon including mini-lectures on each breed. Post-event the mill will be opened to the public, Sierra Serenity will be available in the classroom for their trunk show, and folks are welcome to join us for our open house.
