Ticket Type

Join us Saturday November 7th for a fabulous adventure aboard the yarn train! Enjoy our private train car with space for wheels while you craft on the ride down to Portland for MillFest! Yarn Bus will meet you at the station and ferry you to Wool for the People Mill & Dyehouse. This is a one way ticket, allowing you to book your ride home at your convenience.

Departure:
Our journey starts at the Seattle Amtrak station located at King Street Station: 303 South Jackson Street
Seattle, WA 98104. You can join us at any stop south of Seattle. If you will be boarding at a different station, please leave that location in the notes of your order so we make sure you get boarded onto the correct train car!

The Amtrak 505 leaves King Street Station at 8:55am. Amtrak group sales recommends arriving at the station one hour prior to departure to allow for priority boarding. We will have a group representative with a Wool for the People sign at King Street Station as a chaperone for the ride. They will lead the gathering and boarding process.

If you board from another station, your ticket will be scanned and you will board our train car with guidance from the ticket scanner and any conductors present. You can view the full schedule for Amtrak 505 HERE.

During our Journey:
Amtrak 505 has excellent leg room and we have allowed for extra space for spinning wheels. Every guest is allowed two free checked bags, so if you have luggage, we highly encourage you to check your suitcases prior to boarding to allow for more crafting space while on our journey. Amtrak's luggage policy is here.  Amtrak 505 has a dining car where you can purchase food and beverages. We will have a small number of snacks available, complimentary to our passengers.

Arrival in Portland:
Upon arrival, the group will be ferried to Wool for the People MillFest by the Yarn Bus. This is included in your ticket price. Depending on group size, this may take a few trips. The mill is only a 12 minute ride away. If you would like to skip the wait and take public transit from the station, it is easy, reliable, and convenient. Google maps and a tappable form of payment is all you need to ride Portland's public transit system.

Notes on Yarn Bus:
Yarn bus is operated by a licensed CDL driver affectionately known as "Yarn Dad". In addition to ferrying Amtrak passengers to the mill, the yarn bus will be operating as a hop on-hop off bus for MillFest goers who wish to visit other LYS in Portland. As Yarn Train passengers, you may use the hop on-hop off bus during your visit. Non-Amtrak riders will be charged a ticket price.

Northern Riders:
We are at the Mercy of what Amtrak has available. I know we have a number of potential Yarn Train riders who live north of Seattle and were hoping to catch the train down. We have a few thoughts.
1. We have put together a carpool form to make connections and carpool to a southern stop where you can join us. Google Form Here.
2. There are other trains that leave later in the day that start at Vancouver, BC. You would not be on the official Yarn Train, but there are options to get to Portland.

If you purchase multiple tickets, please provide us with the names of your group members at checkout. Thank you!
